Growth Mindset W13: Creative Mind
Why Developing A Creative Mindset Requires You To Be Diverse In Who You Learn From and Where You Learn It. by
https://thetechrabbi.com/blog/2017/7/23/educated-by-design-part1"Creativity is a mindset, not a talent. When we understand that creativity is a way of thinking that blends our imagination with the world around us, then true innovation can exist."
When I think of the quote provided above it very much encapsulates my idea surrounding creativity and the ideas promoted within this "Growth Mindset" based article. This articles hails from thetechrabbi.com and surrounds Michael Cohen's journey through the subject of creativity. Throughout the article he gives examples of our current societies ability to lose our natural knack for creativity and how this loss can be associated with our education. He claims our current school system weeds out our natural inclination for creativity, instead focusing on an easier, more direct system of problem solving/discovery. Cohen's aim is to create a mindset that more easily allows people to rediscover there creativity. He claims that this rediscovery comes with the mantra that "creativity is a mindset, not a talent"; as already given in the opening quote. Personally, I 100% agree with this statement as ones ability to be creative comes with both practice, and the will power/mind set to work towards this ability. Few times in life are abilities to accomplish a task just gifted willy-nilly; many abilities require repetition, an environment/mentors who foster the work ethic with enthusiasm/positive reinforcement. Overall, I agree with Cohen's take and intend to foster my family/friends to more creative mindsets.
