Weekly Review W13: Biology Midterm Draws Near

The readings this week were interesting, with my favorite being the various poems from Anna Akhmatova. This isn't a surprise as it seems I'm often drawn to poetry. It's crazy how much my affinity for poetry has developed over the last many years. because before returning to receive education, my appreciation was non-existent. Honestly, this development is one of my favorite aspects I've developed since returning to school a year and a half ago. My best writing this week comes from another class in which I had to write a review for the film Selena. This review was from a Chicano Film Appreciation Course and I feel for a purely structural standpoint, I was able to convey the positives/negatives in both an informative and entertaining fashion. The review was just over 3 pages long, but was a breeze to write. Otherwise, in Biology,  a midterm quickly approaches within the next week and studying has kicked into gear. While I've enjoyed Biology; it isn't my favorite subject and can provide a bit of a grind to study for. Luckily, the content isn't to difficult to grasp, although it's a lot to remember. The biology course also involves much lab work and this week revolved around each table group to display the process of Mitosis with chalk, magnets and play-doh. Doing so made me feel like I was in grade school again. I'm not complaining though, as the work was easy, fun and reminded me of simpler times. With the end of semester vastly approaching I'm gearing up for an intense couple of weeks. Luckily, this past week wasn't of such variety. I'm reveling in simplicity of this week and mentally preparing for the incoming stress gauntlet. With that said, this week of schooling has been easy-going, if not a little boring.
